WHEN MAY I APPLY FOR WORKERS' COMPENSATION? |
|
Workers' Compensation covers an employee when he or she suffers a personal injury arising out of or in the course of his or her employment. Employee's may also be covered if a disease is contracted in the course of their employment or when a recurrence or aggravation of a pre existing illness or injury occurs where the employment has contributed to a significant degree. Injuries resulting from motor vehicle journey's during the course of your employment may also be covered by workers' compensation. Changes to the legislation in 1993 ceased to cover employees who receive injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents whilst travelling to and from their place of residence to their place of work. If you have an accident to or from work please contact the Motor Vehicle Personal Injury Division on 1800 643 338. Please note that some Union's have policies for travel to and from work. Contact you Union for details.
