Workers' Compensation

The maximum compensation payable in weekly payments and lump sum settlements is called the 'Prescribed Amount'. An injured worker's statutory entitlements include compensation for lost wages up to the prescribed amount, medical expenses up to 30% of the prescribed amount and vocational rehabilitation expenses up to 7% of the prescribed amount.

Wages
$168,499.00
Medical Expenses $50,550.00
Vocational Rehabilitation $11,795.00

The prescribed amount is indexed annually on 1 July every year. The amendments to the legislation in October 1999 introduced a cap on wages. The capped rate, current until 30 June 2009, is $1904.40 gross per week. This figure is also indexed annually.

If you have any questions regarding costs on your current claim for workers' compensation, please contact the workers' compensation officer responsible for your district.
