Equipment can assist an employee to perform his or her duties at an optimal level or provide assistance with work or home activities while recovering from an injury or illness. Equipment examples include:

  • Seating - child care stool, sit-stand seat, universal safety stool;
  • Specialised keyboards;
  • Specialised computer mice;
  • Monitor stands;
  • Telephone headsets;
  • Document holders & writing slope boards;
  • Other workstation assistive devices, for example, wrist rests.

Equipment may be recommended following a worksite or ergonomic assessment.  The Employee Support Bureau encourages the school, district office, and central office to fund for recommended general ergonomic equipment, however funding is available for specific ergonomic equipment for an employee on workers' compensation or with a disability. If the purchase is related to a workers' compensation injury, the Injury Management Consultants will arrange the purchase and delivery of the equipment.  If the purchase is related to the disability, reimbursement can be sought through the Facilities and Services Directorate.

Word Document Further information regarding the latter can be obtained from the "Guidelines for the provision of special equipment for employees with disabilities".
Word Document For information regarding purchasing of equipment for non-workers' compensation related injuries, please refer to the "Equipment Procedures for Non-Workers' Compensation Clients"

Should you require further advice on or assistance with ergonomic equipment please contact an Injury Management Consultant.

Further information regarding equipment supplies is available at Equipment suppliers.
