    Australian Children's Choice Awards
    There are numerous children's choice book awards in Australia, state based and national. In each case children are the judges, voting for their favourite book.

    Australian Readers' Challenge
    The 2006 ARC report detailing achievements is now available. From 2007, Indigenous literacy became the core fundraising project for the Australian Book Industry.

    Children's Book Week
    Book Week is the longest running children's festival in Australia, celebrating its 64th birthday in 2009.
    2009: Saturday 22 August to Friday 28 August
    Theme: "Book safari"

    International School Library Month
    Held in October each year. Theme for 2008 was "Literacy and learning at your School Library".

    Library & Information Week
    2009: Monday 25 May to Sunday 31 May

    MS Readathon
    2009: Monday 1 June
    The MS Readathon is Australia's premier literacy and fundraising program, filled with exciting reading opportunities, rewards, games, and competitions. It's the Rewarding way for children and schools to read to change the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.

    National Literacy and Numeracy Week
    2009: Monday 31 August to Sunday 6 September
    A special week to celebrate the progress Australian schools are making in raising the literacy and numeracy levels of all students. National Literacy and Numeracy Week will showcase the hard work school communities have undertaken to increase their efforts to improve literacy and numeracy standards of students.

    National Simultaneous Storytime
    2009: Wednesday 27 May at 11.00 am.
    This year’s National Simultaneous Storytime book is Pete the Sheep written by Jackie French and illustrated by Bruce Whatley.
    The book is about Sean the shearer, instead of a sheepdog to help him‚ he’s got Pete - a sheep sheep!
