Languages Other
Than English (LOTE) Aboriginal languages are taught to both
Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students in a range of metropolitan, urban and
remote community schools across Australia. Aboriginal languages teaching
is a cooperative effort between the school and the Aboriginal Community.
An increasing number of
AIEOs and Aboriginal teachers are undertaking the Aboriginal
Languages Teacher Training and graduating as Aboriginal Languages teachers
with knowledge and skills to enable them to plan, teach and assess student
outcomes in languages.

Apprenticeships
and Traineeships
Aboriginal School Based Training program is a school to work transition
initiative where Aboriginal students undertake traineeships as they complete
their Western Australian Certificate of Education. School based
traineeships encourage more Aboriginal students to stay at school during Year
11 and 12 and assist more young Aboriginal students to gain employment after
completing school.
